Because I was unable to work at the time, I did some searching online and came across a rescue group in Panama City called Animal Rescue Center of Bay County (ARC of Bay County). They go into high kill shelters and pull adoptable dogs.
I was looking for another small border collie to keep Fred company and Bandit was listed as a border collie mix on their website. I immediately contacted them, filled out an adoption application and crossed my fingers that I might have a chance at adopting this cute boy. I had no idea what his personality was like, I just knew I saw something in his eyes. Thankfully, I got a call to come meet Bandit in Panama City and I brought Fred to meet him. Fred was certainly interested in Bandit, yet Bandit didn't seem too interested in Fred. I didn't let that discourage me from believing this could work. Something inside just told me it could.

A week after having the two boys meet, I got another call indicating that I was approved to adopt Bandit and that I could come get him. I was ecstatic! The day I brought Bandit home, he road in the back seat of my car, not making a peep, not moving a muscle. I wondered if he would adjust to a new home quickly.
The moment he stepped into the house, he knew he was home. Fred welcomed Bandit with a tail wagging and a big smile. They have been best friends and inseparable ever since. It was a match made in heaven.

Bubba (AKA Bandit) is not only a good friend for Fred, but a great ear cleaner too! Fred's ears are always squeaky clean along with his eyes. Bubba is a great big brother, and Fred knows it too!
They are about the same size, though Bubba is a little stockier and has a larger head (not to mention some stubbornness) - it's the bull dog in him!
All in all, it was just meant to be. Bubba has an 'old soul' about him and has a calm that is contagious. Thank you for blessing our home, dear Bubba!
